Summary:

When Nicole Cassidy moves from sunny Georgia to gloomy New England, the last thing she expects is to learn that her homeroom is a cover for a secret coven of witches. Even more surprisingly … she’s apparently a witch herself. Despite doubts about her newfound abilities, Nicole is welcomed into this ancient circle of witches and is bedazzled by their powers—and, to her dismay, by Blake—the school’s notorious bad-boy.
Girls who get close to Blake wind up hurt. His girlfriend Danielle will do anything to keep them away, even if she must resort to using dark magic. But the chemistry between Blake and Nicole is undeniable, and despite wanting to protect Nicole from Danielle’s wrath, he finds it impossible to keep his distance.
When the Olympian Comet shoots through the sky for the first time in three thousand years, Nicole, Blake, Danielle, and two others in their homeroom are gifted with mysterious powers. But the comet has another effect—it opens the portal to the prison world that has contained the Titans for centuries. After an ancient monster escapes and attacks Nicole and Blake, it’s up to them and the others to follow the clues from a cryptic prophecy so that they can save their town … and possibly the world.

Review:
*The publisher provided this book in exchange for an honest review through NetGalley.*
When Nicole Cassidy moves from California to New England she expects lots of changes, mainly weather-wise, what she wasn't expecting was that her homeroom was full of witches. She also wasn't expecting to learn that she was a witch herself.
Despite doubting her recently acquired ablilities she is welcomed into the midst of this ancient circle of witches and is swept away by their powers. Most surprisingly Blake, the hottest boy in town, who's also a witch welcomes her too.
The problem is that Blake has a very jealous girlfried, Danielle, who stop at nothing to get other girls away from him, even is that means she has to use forbidden black magic. Blake wants to protect Nicole from his girlfriend's wrath but he can't keep himself away from her.
On the night the Olympian Comet crosses the sky for the first time in 3000 years, Nicole, Blake, Danielle and two other witches happen to get mysterious powers that might be the key to close the portal prison that has opened and where the Titans lay for centuries. After Nicole and Blake were attacked by an ancient monster that escaped it's prison, it turns out that it's up to the five witches to follow the clues of mysterious prophecy so they can save ther world of falling into the Titan's claws.
Mixing greek mythology with witches seemed like a strange and highly risky idea when I started to read this book, only to come to the conclusion, in the end, that it was a brilliant idea! Never had I thought that it would work out so amazingly!
Nicole is a very awesome main characther and the way she devepos through this first volume of the story is very unique, you get to see her while she discovers little bits and pieces about her true identity and about her personality. Her relashionship with Blake is also very characther defining and the way she respects Danielle even if she's mean to her shows that she's capable of being the "better person".
Every single characther is unique, I like to think of them as onions: they have many layers and, as the story advances, we get to peel one layer at the time, until we get to the core, which means their "true self". That's an amazing trait that I really appreciate when I'm reading a series, the effect of continuity that they have, you don't aren't just slapped with the whole "personality" at once, instead you get to discover it piece by piece.
I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series! If you like books like Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan and/or the Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout you'll certainly enjoy and love this book!
