Summary:
Kyon Ensin finally has what he’s always wanted: possession of Kricket Hollowell, the priestess who foresees the future. Together, their combined power will be unrivaled. Kricket, however, doesn’t crave the crown of Ethar—she has an unbreakable desire to live life on her own terms, a life that she desperately wants to share with her love, Trey Allairis.
As conspiracies rage in the war for Ethar, Kricket’s so-called allies want to use her as a spy. Even those held closest cannot be trusted—including Astrid, her sister, and Giffen, a member of a mysterious order with a hidden agenda. But Kricket’s resolve will not allow her to be used as anyone’s pawn, even as the Brotherhood sharpens its plans to cut out her heart.
As the destiny prophesied by her mother approaches, Kricket will backtrack through her fiery future to reshape it. For she knows one thing above all else: the only person she can truly count on is herself.
Review:
*The publisher provided this book in exchange for an honest review trough NetGalley.*
The etharian Kyon has finally got what he wanted : the possession of Kricket Hollowell, the girl priestess that can see the future. The only problem is that Kricket doesn't want to be with him and she also doesn't want the control of Ethar... She only wants to be free and love Trey Allaris.
Ethar is full of conspiracies and Kricket's supposed allies want to use her as a spy. She can't trust anyone, starting with Astrid, her recently found sister...  She has to fight for her life, alone, while trying to reshape the future her mother has predicted.
This book really surprised me and I have to warn you that it contains the mother of all plot twists! Generally, I really like where this story is heading and the way that new characthers are being added to the story, gradually. Still this book was able to have me stunned and with mixed feelings through most of it.
Sincerelly I have to congratulate the author for not sticking with just the sweet part of a story, she really gave it all. There is good and bad in everyones lives and she made the book real by making Kricket's story not only sweet but sad (with some taste).
I think that all the chains of events in this book will make more sense on the next book (at least I think there'll be a next one, otherwise the series wouldn't make sense).
This book has a lot of one thing KION so brace yourselves because Kion is coming, and heartache too.
I think that most readers will absolutely love this book! So pick it up because I can't stay away from this series and I know you feel it too!
